The Best and Worst Times to Post on Social Networks
Social Media is a fantastic way of connecting with your audience, however there are certain times of the day that you will get better results on each of the different platforms.
A recent infographic from Krissy Brady via Social Caffeine sheds some light on the topic, showing the best and worst times to post to the major platforms. Here are the results and there are some surprises!
Facebook in the afternoon
Not surprisingly, Facebook is busiest during the working day, notably from 9am to 4pm. If you are posting between 1pm and 4pm, Social Caffine's research shows you will get the most traction, while anything between 8pm and 8am perform most poorly. Avoid posting on the weekends.
For maximum results; post on Wednesday's at 3pm.
Twitter is slower to start than Facebook and also has a shorter attention span, with traffic building after 11am but fading by 3pm and between 8pm and 9am. On Fridays after 3pm it has the biggest drop off and is the best time to avoid tweeting.
For maximum results; post between 1-3 Monday to Thursday.
This one surprised me! Thinking of LinkedIn as a business networking tool, I would have thought it was busy 9-5, however LinkedIn members use the platform most commonly outside of work hours! Users also seem to be sleeping between 10pm - 6pm, which makes sense!
For maximum results; post between 7am - 9am, and 5pm - 6pm from Tuesday to Thursday.
Google+ seems to be similar to Facebook with good traffic from 9am-5pm, but a bit more of a morning persons platform with traffic building at 9am, but trailing off after 11am. Avoid posting in the evening as it is weakest from 6pm to 8am.
For maximum results; post between 9am-11am Monday to Thursday.
Pinterest followers make their own trend with users generally not pinning until later in the day. Peak times for posting on Pinterest are between 2pm - 4pm and 8pm - 1am! But just to be different, Pinterest traffic also soars on Saturday mornings.
